Zanu PF Vungu Constituency Member of Parliament,Brown Ndlovu has taken the lead in the construction of a new classroom block at St. Davis Sunrise Primary School, in Ward 17, Chimoio District, as part of efforts to improve learning infrastructure in the area.
Speaking during the tour of the construction site yesterday, Ndlovu pledged to supply 60 bags of cement, this week, to accelerate progress.
He also released funds to purchase fuel for transporting bricks from local moulding sites to the school premises.
“This project, which has so far reached box level, is being driven by the local community. The community members have provided labour and resources in line with President Mnangagwa’s mantra, Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo. This is a step in the right direction,” said Ndlovu.
The MP, further commended the community for its unity, resilience and hard work in advancing development projects without waiting for external assistance.
“I am pleased by the spirit you have shown in working together to build this classroom block. This is the practical implementation of the President’s mantra that development starts with us as Zimbabweans,” he said.
MP Ndlovu was accompanied by Zanu PF Central Committee member, Bongani Rukanda, Ward 17 Councillor Angeline Muganyi, local party officials and traditional leaders.
Cde Rukanda said the MP’s intervention demonstrated practical leadership that connects with people on the ground.
“We commend the MP for coming in with cement and fuel assistance, which will ensure the project moves faster. This is the kind of leadership we want to see – leaders who come down to the grassroots level to support communities in their development efforts,” said Rukanda.
Councillor Muganyi said the community had worked hard but needed support to complete the classroom block.
“Our people have done well with the resources they have, but they were running short of materials. The MP’s pledge will go a long way in ensuring the block is completed soon so that children will no longer learn under trees,” she said.
Local villagers also expressed gratitude for the MP’s gesture.
“We are happy that our MP has come to see what we are doing and has promised to help us finish the work. This motivates us,” said Patrick Moyo, one of the residents assisting with construction.
Joyce Chikowore said the development would change the future of local children.
“When this block is finished, our children will learn comfortably and safely. We thank our MP for supporting this project which benefits future generations,” she said.
The MP urged the community to stay committed to the project, saying only unity and hard work would ensure the successful completion of the classroom block for the benefit of future generations.
