From the 40 confirmed cases of covid-19 in Zimbabwe, at least 13 have recovered, suggesting a 32% leap in the positive, as the country enhances its efforts to bust the disease.
Zimbabwe has so far recorded 37 cases of COVID-19, with thirteen recoveries and four deaths.
With a number of African countries imposing a range of prevention and containment measures against the spread of the pandemic, Zimbabwe seems to be doing relatively well at 32% recovery rate, trailing slightly behind neighbouring South Africa at 39% recovery cases.
Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care John Mangwiro said the country was putting all heads on the deck to ensure that they manage the pandemic in the best way possible.
“The country together with the rest of the world is trying to do anything possible to ensure that we fight this pandemic and we have since outsourced medical experts from China. The exchange of ideas between Zimbabwean and Chinese experts will go a long way in combating the spread of COVID-19,” he said.
He acknowledged that their coming in in-person, would allow cross-pollination of ideas and interfacing which will in turn yield results.
This week saw a 12 member Chinese medical team arriving in the country to assist in the fight against the pandemic from China’s Wuhan Province who also brought with them a consignment of medical supplies including ventilators, nucleic acid testing kits, face masks and medical protective suits.
