Harare City Council (HCC) Nurses are set to get an upward salary adjustment after an agreement has been reached between the National Employment Council and the Nurses Trade Union for a salary increment. HCC Nurses’ downed tools last month citing poor remuneration among other complaints.
In a post Cabinet briefing held yesterday, The Minister of Health and Child Care, Obadiah Moyo said the illegal industrial action taken by City of Harare Nurses is set to end as an attractive package has been offered to them.
“Cabinet is cognizant that an agreement has been reached between the National Employment Council and the Nurses Trade Union for a salary increment for Nurses. The Nurses are therefore expected to return to work soon,” said Minister Moyo.
However, disciplinary action against Nurses who were not reporting for duty will be taken according to the law. The same Nurses will not be paid for the days that they have not been reporting for duty.
HCC has 6 municipal clinics with a total of 138 Nurses on its payroll. Only 70 Nurses were reporting for duty as others had engaged on an illegal industrial action.
