Zimbabwe is hosting the Sub Saharan Africa Transport Policy (SSATP) program which seeks to upgrade Africa’s transport connectivity and road safety by 2020.

The SSATP program’s Annual Meeting and General Assembly is being held at Victoria Falls from 25 to 29 November 2019.

SSATP is being held under the theme, Positioning Africa for a Sustainable post 2020 Road Safety Agenda. The program is going to be focussing on three main issues, integration connectivity and cohesion, urban transport mobility and road safety.

Speaking on the event on its website, SSATP said it was pleased that Zimbabwe would be hosting the policy program.

“We are pleased to announce that Zimbabwe will be hosting the Africa Transport Policy Program’s Annual Meeting and General Assembly in Victoria Falls from, 25-29 November 2019. The central theme of the 2019 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be on Positioning Africa for a Sustainable Post-2020 Road Safety Agenda’.

“As the last annual meeting of SSATP’s Third Development Plan (DP3), this important forum will be crucial for SSATP stakeholders, providing a unique opportunity to help design and shape the future of the Program. Sessions will serve to validate the new strategic framework of the Fourth Development Plan (DP4) and prioritize a sound Program for the next strategy cycle. Furthermore, the AGM will provide a unique opportunity to hold discussions aimed at addressing Africa’s most pressing transport challenges and policy development issues,” said the SSATP.

SSATP continues to facilitate policy development and related capacity-building in the transport sector of Africa, The Harare Post has learnt.
