ZACC warns of bogus investigators

The Zimbabwe Anti-corruption Commission (ZACC) has warned members of the public about some criminals who were going about claiming to be investigators from some phoney anti-corruption organisations. This was revealed in a statement issued by the Commission this week.

“The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission in collaboration with (the) Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested bogus investigators in Gokwe, Marondera, Harare, Chinhoyi and Mutare. ZACC would like to notify members of the public that the Southern Africa Regional Anti-corruption (SARACO), the National Anti-corruption Organisation ( NACO) and the National Anti-corruption Association of Zimbabwe (NACAZ) are not part of ZACC and have no mandate to conduct any investigations of corruption in Zimbabwe,” read part of the statement.

ZACC further indicated that the criminals were using plastic identity cards from their respective bogus organisations.

The Commission advised citizens to be on the lookout for such people.

“We urge all members of the public to be vigilant and report any such cases to the nearest police station or ZACC,” it said.
