President Emmerson Mnangagwa has invited all SADC countries to the inaugural AU/UN Wildlife Summit to be held in Victoria Falls next month. This is in line with Zimbabwe’s mantra Zimbabwe is open for business.

President Mnangagwa said this at the Elephant Summit in Botswana yesterday which was meant to establish a common ground on the management of the elephant population within the region.

On his twitter handle today, President Mnangagwa posted, “At the Kasane Elephant Summit, we worked to develop a common regional position on elephant management, and called to be able to trade and better benefit from our natural endowments so they may help us to eradicate poverty and improve the quality of life for rural communities.

“I closed my address by welcoming our neighbours to the inaugural AU/UN Wildlife Summit, hosted by Zimbabwe, to be held in June in Victoria Falls. I look forward to continuing the discussions then,” said the President.

The AU/UN Wildlife Summit to be held next month in Victoria Falls will afford SADC nations an opportunity to share views on unlocking benefits from wildlife.

Zimbabwe has been on the forefront expressing the need for the SADC region to have a common ground on conservation and wildlife management.
