Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has urged all tourism players to be compliant with its regulatory requirements.
On its twitter handle, ZTA said it was targeting tourism players who were not being compliant with ZTA regulatory requirements to enhance compliance.
“ZTA is targeting all unregistered tourism facilities operating illegally in a bid to enhance compliance with the industry regulatory requirements to promote tourism recovery and growth,” said the Authority.
ZTA also said all those operators with unregistered tourism facilities were supposed to have registered by end of March 2019.
“The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority wishes to remind all operators with unregistered designated tourism facilities to come forward and register by the 31 March 2019. In terms of the Tourism Act of 1996 Chapter 14:20 section 57, all designated tourism facilities should be registered with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority. Statutory instrument 106 of 1996 sets out the facilities that are currently designated and these include conference organisers, restaurants, curio shops...
“Benefits of registration include access to such incentives as duty free facility for specified goods and in designated areas, access to the tourism revolving fund, promotion of your facility and assurance that your facility meets minimum standards,” said ZTA.
Harare Post has learnt all facilities that register or renew their licences and certificates on time will have no penalties charged.
