Minister of Information and Communications Technology and Cyber Security Kazembe Kazembe is in Geneva, Switzerland where he is attending the World Summit in the Information Society (WSIS), which is running under the theme “Information and Communication Technologies for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”.
Minister Kazembe is today expected to attend the Ministerial round table meeting facilitated by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Zimbabwe is also represented by students from different tertiary institutions who were also awarded the Most Creative Idea certificate to which Minister Kazembe applauded Team Zimbabwe on his Twitter handle.
“Congratulations to our young techno entrepreneurs participating in the Hackathon for winning the prestigious award for The Most Creative Application Idea. Zimbabwean students from NUST, UZ and HIT teamed up with Iran and contested in a brainstorming contest,” said Minister Kazembe.
The innovative presentation by Zimbabwean students was “hacking solutions for lifelong learning livelihoods.” The Hackathon had students from over 20 countries taking part who registered to participate. The expenses for the Zimbabwean students where paid by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and Cyber Security through POTRAZ.
WSIS is this year celebrating its 10th anniversary of the establishment from April 8 to 12 in Geneva at the International Telecommunication Union. The WSIS Forum is co-organized by the, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
