Self-exiled Professor Jonathan Moyo has been reprimanded on social media for equating First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa to Grace Mugabe, following the former’s proposed interface meetings with the Chiefs’ wives.
Posting on his Twitter handle, Prof Moyo made accusations of abuse of office by the First Lady and subsequently called for the impeachment of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
“In a clear case of criminal abuse of office, Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing, July Moyo is using his office through the Permanent Secretary, to get Mrs Auxillia Mnangagwa to meddle in state affairs, when she is not a state official. This is an impeachable offence against President Mnangagwa,” said Moyo.
Responding to the impeachment suggestion, netizen Jones Musara said, “Charity is a virtue not an impeachable offence. Besides, Parliament is controlled by ZANU PF which is solidly in support of charity, the President and the First Lady. Hapana impeachment yamunoita imi majecharists.”
Another netizen identified as Tapiwa Mukozho blasted Prof Moyo and told him to leave the President and the First Lady to continue to work for the good of the nation.
“Please move out of President Mnangagwa’s way. Zimbabwe’s crisis will be solved by Zimbabwean people, meaning those people who are facing day to day Zimbabwean challenges not you. Imi zivayi zvekuhwanda muriikoko kwamurikuyita chamuhwande hwande chenyu, muchazozvibatisa,” said Mukozho.
Tafadzwa Muguti added saying, “We watched for years as you flaunted so many laws with the former first lady and your cronies. Today whilst in hiding, for reasons you know give you sleepless nights, you take every opportunity to mock, ridicule and attack President ED. You are the wrong person to want to lecture us about law.”
“Having read the letter, it’s for a good cause and they have done efforts to cut costs, which is very good. To share and build synergies on programs that promote empowerment of women and girls,” added David Moyo.
Another netizen only identified as Mashuro added that, “And she is meeting the Chiefs’ wives and there is nothing amiss about that at all to warrant impeachment of a President. You try hard but you always fail. You need help Jonathan Moyo, you are not normal on a serious note. Seek help, because you will be a mad old man if you don’t get help.”
Meanwhile, the first of the Chiefs’ wives interface will be held at State House on 15 February 2019 and will comprise Mashonaland West, Central and East Provinces. Dates for other provinces will be provided for in due course.
