The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has issued a warning to members of the public masquerading and causing as army members and causing despondency to desist from that as this was tarnishing the organisation’s image.
In a statement, the ZNA said that the army was concerned with allegations of misconduct levelled against them and intended to crack its whip on any rogue elements within its ranks as well as counterfeits.
“The Zimbabwe National Army has noted with concern allegations of misconduct and acts of violence by people purporting to be members of the organisation. The actions by these bogus elements have subsequently put the image of the organisation into disrepute,” read the statement.
In light of that, the Military Police are said to be on standby to deal with such people with the army going a step further to provide hotline numbers for the public to call on. (0712 842 318 / 0786 452 155)
In the same vein, the President writing on his Twitter page this Tuesday said that he would leave no stone unturned in dealing “decisively” with rogue members of the security forces found to have taken part in human rights abuses during last week’s stay away.
