The Nelson Chamisa led MDC has forged an unholy alliance with some Non-Governmental Organisations in which the later will organise underground activities meant to make the country ungovernable, the Harare Post can reveal.
Sources privy to the development confided in this publication that the MDC leader has been holding around the clock meetings with a small clique comprised of mostly former Zimbabwe National Student Union (ZINASU) members.
“Chamisa is hatching most of the covert operations with his confidantes who are mostly former ZINASU members. His national executive committee is not even privy to these secretive manoeuvres. Chamisa trusts nobody but a few hand-picked alter egos that are not even in the party structures,” said the sources.
Sources revealed that Activista Zimbabwe and Heal Zimbabwe Trust are among the NGOs that have been recruited by the MDC to execute its underground operations.
“Activista Zimbabwe recently conducted a workshop in Gwanda where some MDC youths from Matabeleland South received training in various areas,” said one source who said he was part of the trainees.
“The training was disguised as a workshop running under the theme, ‘sacrificing for the defence of your vote.’ I need to be honest, it’s not like we were militarily drilled but the training package was meant to radicalise the youth,” he said.
He added that they were told that they were to go for further training in South Africa where they would meet another team of Zimbabweans domiciled in that country.
The source said the training workshop was spearheaded by one Norman Mudadisi and Activista Zimbabwe’s national coordinator, Thando Gwinji. He said the two urged the youths to brace up for a series of demonstrations to be staged across the country. He added that the focus would now shift from the urban areas to rural areas.
During a thank you rally in Bikita last week and at various rallies, the MDC Organising Secretary, Amos Chibaya revealed that the MDC would make this country ungovernable. He, however, did not specify how the MDC would make the country anarchical.
In Manicaland, Heal Zimbabwe Trust (HZT), the sources said, would be responsible for spearheading the same programme. On 9 December 2018, HZT was in Makoni West and Headlands where they recruited focal persons.
The focal persons underwent training where they were encouraged to participate extensively on social media. The focal persons were given smart phones, laptops, bicycles and other things the sources could not identify.
“During the workshop, trainees were told that Zanu PF deployed soldiers in constituencies to intimidate opposition members. One of the strategies we were taught is to attack these soldiers at night,” said the source.
Government has this week warned NGOs that dabble in politics to stick to their mandate or risk being de-registered. The Acting Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Kazembe Kazembe said that Government was alert to some NGOs dabbling in politics.
“We are not at liberty to disclose the names but we are warning them and say they must stick to their mandate. Should these organisations continue with this behaviour, the Government will not hesitate to withdraw their registration certificates,” said Kazembe.
