Despite the claim by MDC leader, Nelson Chamisa that his party is a peaceful entity and that he did not incite the August 1 incident, a Provincial Youth Assembly Chairperson has urged youths to sacrifice their lives on the planned 29 November 2108 demonstrations.
Testifying before the Commission of Inquiry investigating into August 1 incidents, Chamisa vowed that the demonstrations would go ahead, a confirmation that he made groundwork to incite his supporters.
Sources within the Harvest House told the Harare Post that Chamisa wants to use the demonstrations to incite the public to overthrow a constitutionally elected Government.
Addressing a caucus meeting over the weekend in Matebeleland South, Lindiwe Maphosa, Provincial Youth Assembly chairperson said the youths should be prepared to sacrifice their lives on 29 November demonstrations.
However, many high ranking officials seem to be back-tracking from the agenda of staging demonstrations with the Organizing Secretary, Amos Chibaya being rumored to have campaigned for the shelving of demos this week.
Meanwhile, youths in Insiza district are circulating messages urging party supporters in the district not to attend the demonstrations as it would degenerate into violence.
Political scientists, however, told this publication that there is fear within the MDC that the demonstration might flop as was evidenced by poor attendance at the “Thank You” rallies in Marondera and Chinhoyi respectively.
Supporters across the country are backtracking following Chamisa’s reckless utterances where he labelled them as stupid.
Pursuant to the reckless utterances by Chamisa, it was evident that the numbers are nose-diving and supporters are developing cold feet as most are interested in issues to do with bread and butter.
Various social commentators have lambasted the youth leader for inciting acts of terror in the country and want to remove constitutionally elected Government, most labelled Chamisa as power hungry and undemocratic.
