Government is set to upgrade Doma community in Mhangura, Mashonaland west to meet town standards, the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting has said.
The Doma community where people have been living under unbearable conditions in the Zambezi basin are destined to breathe a sigh of relief from Government interventions to uplift their standard of living.
On its twitter handle, the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting said, “In Doma, people around the Maringa community are a tribe that lives in the Zambezi basin. They live in conflict with wild animals, hence little cropping. They get radio from Zambia and nothing from Zimbabwe. Government is now starting to uplift the community by providing them with electricity through the Rural Electrification Programme (REA), radio and television access, improved health facilities, roads rehabilitation, farming support and education.”
Harare Post has learnt that there are some marginalised communities in the country such as Lupane which Governments is aiming to upgrade.
A member of the Lupane community said the 2nd Republic was on a positive initiative to commence the assistance of communities.
“In Lupane we have no communication network coverage...the Cross Jotsholo network or cell phone boosters are failing to reach the entire community...in Lupane West, we need road rehabilitation and improvement of our health facilities,” the Lupane community member said.
