Nelson Chamisa faces backlash for politicizing funerals

A source has revealed that the controversy about Chamisa`s exploitation of funerals as political platforms reached its peak in Chikwati village, Ward 23 of Gutu, where villagers accused same and his party members of using the funeral of Chamunorwa Chamisa, Nelson's uncle, to further their political agenda.

According to the source, villagers expressed their discontent with Chamisa's actions during Chamunorwa’s funeral.

“Instead of focusing on mourning the late Chamunorwa, the villagers claimed that Chamisa turned the sombre event into a full-fledged political rally. This move left many attendees perplexed and disappointed as they had expected to pay their respects without being drawn into political discussions,” said the source.

The source further revealed that the situation became tenser when the CCC Movement Mobiliser Amos Chibaya was given a platform to deliver a speech during the funeral proceedings.

“The villagers were particularly aggrieved by the participation of Amos Chibaya, who was given a platform to make a speech during the funeral. Instead of honouring the deceased, Chibaya used that opportunity to criticize Sengezo Tshabangu, causing tension and resentment among the mourners. The recalls made by Tshabangu became the focal point of Chibaya's speech, leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of the grieving villagers.

“Villagers were quick to voice their dissatisfaction with the politicization of the funeral, arguing that such events should be reserved for mourning and remembrance, not for advancing political agendas. Many attendees failed to see the relevance of Chibaya's speech at the funeral, questioning why he was given a platform to air political grievances during a time of mourning,” narrated the source.

Meanwhile, according to recent reports Chamisa's influence within the party appears to dwindle further, leaving the CCC in a state of uncertainty. The party's future hangs in the balance as internal divisions and questionable decisions threaten to erode the support base Chamisa once enjoyed.
