CCC councillors attacked for lavish spending…

The source of Chapwanya`s ire was an exorbitant expenditure of USD 24,000 and a staggering $133 million RTGS on a trip to Nyanga, supposedly aimed at exploring new financial business.

Chapwanya attacked Chitengu and his team for what he saw as an irresponsible behavior.

Chapwanya alluded that there was no justification to such extravagant spending, highlighting the pressing issues at hand, including the urgent need for resources to combat the Cholera outbreak.

“It is really shocking to note that the Harare Mayor Chitengu and his team are busy splashing tax payer`s monies in Nyanga. Can you imagine that Chitengu and his team are spending over USD$24 000 and $133 million rtgs in Nyanga? This exorbitant budget was aimed at exploring new financial business.

“This irresponsible behavior is highly not accepted especially at a time when both Harare and the entire nation are grappling with a Cholera outbreak. We do not expect such behavior from the ones we respect and call City Fathers,” lamented Chapwanya.

Chapwanya further questioned the party's commitment to responsible governance.

“The extravagant expenditure by Chitengu and his team on their financial decisions actually underscores the need for a more transparent and accountable government, one that prioritizes the needs of the people over lavish expenditures. The capital is already burdened by the weight of a Cholera outbreak, and it now facing a recurring epidemic from CCC which is a crisis of confidence in its elected leadership,” he said.

Meanwhile, the CCC`s history of spending tax payer`s money dates back from the time when it was under the MDC. The CCC, in 2019, four Bulawayo MDC councillors were exposed after being allegedly pampered by a Harare based parking systems management company in a five-star Harare hotel among other goodies offered by the company.
