This shift is said to be diminishing the role and influence of Nelson Chamisa, the party's current leader, and sparking speculation about a potential breakaway within the party.
An insider within the CCC revealed that the power dynamics within that party have seen a notable change.
"Chibaya and Siziba seem to have assumed control, effectively sidelining Chamisa. They are now seen as the primary decision-makers, potentially steering the party away from its original vision," the source disclosed.
According to the source, this change in leadership is causing uneaseness among party members, raising questions about the future direction and unity in CCC.
The source indicated a growing sentiment within CCC suggesting that Chamisa's leadership is weakening.
"There's a sense that Chamisa is losing his grip of the party. Chibaya and Siziba have emerged as the de facto leaders, directing the party's strategies and initiatives," the source noted.
This development has reportedly led to confusion and division among the party ranks.
Adding to the internal chaos, Sengezo Tshabangu, the interim secretary-general, has taken unexpected actions that have further destabilised that party. “Tshabangu’s sudden assumption of power and his decision to recall CCC Members of Parliament and its councillors has plunged the party into deeper disarray. This has created a power vacuum and a sense of uncertainty about the party's direction,” the source explained.
The unfolding situation within the CCC marks a critical juncture for the opposition party as it grapples with internal challenges and leadership disputes.
The emergence of Chibaya and Siziba as new power centres within the party signifies a shift that could have significant implications for its future.
