Internal Discord Surfaces in CCC

Phulu lamented that the CCC leadership often avoided early dialogue to address misunderstandings, opting to tackle challenges when it is too late.

This comes on the heels of a controversial move by one Sengezo Tshabangu, who claims to be the CCC's interim Secretary General.

Tshabangu recently penned a letter to the Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda, recalling some of the party’s Councillors and Members of Parliament.

Writing on his X handle, Phulu stated that it was essential for CCC leaders to prioritize open engagement rather than resorting to insults aimed at those with differing opinions.

"What is transpiring in CCC is regrettable. Protagonists must prioritize engaging rather than insults. This is a test of leadership. Ignoring Tshabangu and saying he is not a member of CCC is ill-advised. ENGAGE!” Phulu tweeted.

Further deepening the divide within that party, Phulu accused CCC's top echelons of not adequately addressing the challenges that party faces, causing rising tension amongst its ranks.

"The problem is that leadership always sees engagement very late, the result being that little is resolved,” said Phulu.

Meanwhile, there are swirling reports suggesting that both Phulu and Tshabangu align with a faction led by Welshman Ncube, which is actively lobbying for the ousting of Nelson Chamisa as party leader.

In the lead-up to the 2023 harmonized elections, Tshabangu publicly stated that Chamisa should bear responsibility for the CCC’s current state of unrest, dubbing him the main instigator of the party’s "strategic ambiguity."

As the internal dynamics of the CCC continues to unfold, the coming days will be pivotal in determining the direction the party takes and how it mends the fractures that have come to the fore.
