Hwende steps in to mediate in CCC crisis

Amidst a turbulent period for that party, marked by the contentious recalls of legislators and councillors, Hwende’s intervention is seen as a critical move to restore internal harmony.

According to a close source within the CCC, Hwende believes that the ongoing recalls, spearheaded by Tshabangu, could be suspended if Chamisa and Tshabangu engage in direct dialogue.

"Hwende is convinced that face-to-face discussions between the two could be the key to resolving these internal disputes," the source revealed.

The source stated that in his quest to bridge the gap between the conflicting parties, Hwende recently approached Welshman Ncube, believed to be an influential figure in Tshabangu’s camp.

The source said that Hwende urged Ncube to encourage Tshabangu to soften his stance and agree to meet with Chamisa.

"He (Hwende) told Ncube that halting the recalls should be a precondition for this meeting," the source added.

While Tshabangu reportedly showed openness to meeting with Chamisa, he refused to stop the recalls.

"Tshabangu believes halting the recalls would weaken his position in negotiations. He is adamant that it’s Chamisa who needs this meeting more, so no preconditions should be set by Chamisa's side," the source explained."

According to the source, this development has put Hwende in a precarious position within the party, as Chamisa now views Hwende’s actions as treacherous, misinterpreting his mediation efforts as siding with Tshabangu.

"Hwende’s political career is hanging by a thread. Chamisa now sees him as a traitor for attempting to broker peace between him and Tshabangu," the source stated.

Efforts to obtain comments from Hwende and CCC spokesperson, Promise Mkwananzi proved futile, as their mobile phones were unreachable at the time of writing.
