Zanu PF held a victory celebration at Gutu Rural District Council offices on Saturday to thank residents for their support in the recent elections and to outline development plans for the constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Gutu Central Member of Parliament Winston Chitando emphasized the party’s commitment to infrastructure development, particularly in healthcare and education.
"We have plans to construct a maternity wing at GutuMission Hospital and build a new clinic at Guzha. We will complete, equip, and operationalize Mpata and St. Martin clinics, which will improve healthcare access for our people," Chitando announced.
In the education sector, MP Chitando promised that schools in the constituency would receive computers to enhance learning.
Agriculture is also set to benefit from new initiatives. Chitando revealed that chili crop production would be introduced to diversify farming activities, while livestock farmers would receive support to improve cattle and goat breeds.
"We are introducing chili crop production to diversify farming activities and create new income opportunities for our farmers. Additionally, we are prioritizing breed quality improvement for both cattle and goats toenhance livestock productivity and boost the agricultural sector in Gutu," said MP Chitando.
The event drew praise from local leaders, who commended the MP for spearheading development efforts. Ward 37 Chairperson Davison Chitengedzasaid the celebration reinforced the party's commitment to national progress.
"We are happy that the MP hosted this event. The goal was to encourage people to focus on ongoing community development programs and embrace the mantra Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo (A country is built by its own people)," he said.
Chitengedza also highlighted the importance of shifting focus from electioneering to governance.
"We took this opportunity to update residents on the state of the economy, food security, and the mitigation measures being implemented by President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the government," he said.
The celebration comes amid efforts by the ruling party to consolidate its support base and ensure the fulfillment of campaign promises. Residents expressed optimism that the pledged projects would materialize, improving livelihoods in the constituency.
As Zanu PF pushes forward with its development agenda, community leaders urged collaboration between government officials and residents to accelerate progress in healthcare, education, and agriculture.
