Minister calls for laws governing the formation of political parties

In a recent interview, with the Sunday Mail, Minister Muswere highlighted the importance of a well-defined legal framework that would not only streamline the process of party formation but also ensure transparency, accountability, and the adherence to democratic principles.

Furthermore, Minister Muswere also emphasized that the absence of clear legal guidelines was glaring as he said it was evident in the chaotic state of CCC.

“The factional degeneration of the opposition and its disorganization crisis renders volatility to our national democracy. The structureless feature of the CCC has seen the recalling of Members of Parliament and councilors.

“Meanwhile, ZEC and Parliament have an obligation to act constitutionally if more recalls come. Clearly, our democracy is under the threat of the strategic ambiguity pandemic. The crisis to our democracy, through the transplantation of CCC conflicts to our body-politic, must be curtailed by a strong legislative framework for benchmarking what should constitute a political party in Zimbabwe,” said Minister Muswere.

Additionally, Minister Muswere argued that the absence of clear laws had allowed CCC to operate in a manner reminiscent of political child's play which was costing the ordinary taxpayer.

“Their structureless political child’s play is costing the fiscus. Consequently, the ordinary taxpayer is now paying a heavy price for the CCC factional wars.  With the unrelenting recall purge, Zimbabweans will be in permanent election mode,” said Minister Muswere.

Meanwhile, political analyst, Nobleman Runyanga applauded Minister Muswere’s stance on laws governing formation of political parties.

“The turmoil within CCC serves as a stark reminder of the importance of legal frameworks in shaping the conduct of political parties. Minister Muswere's calls for legislation is timely, as it addresses the structural deficiencies that have become evident in CCC,” said the analyst.
