CCC benefactors express dissatisfaction with Chamisa

This new development comes on the heels of a recent controversy involving the party's Interim Secretary-General, Sengezo Tshabangu, who recently recalled CCC’s 15 Members of Parliament and 17 Councillors.

According to a well-placed source within the party, “CCC benefactors and some western embassies are greatly displeased with the chaos orchestrated by Tshabangu. Their discontentment, however, isn't solely aimed at him; the focus is shifting to Nelson Chamisa’s leadership, or lack thereof."

The source was quoted saying, "There is a growing consensus within CCC circles that most of the party's internal challenges stem from Chamisa's leadership. The latest events involving Tshabangu have simply exacerbated those feelings. Many believe that had Chamisa been a more attentive and assertive leader, such a significant fallout from Tshabangu’s recalls could have been averted."

According to the source, the waves of dissatisfaction don't just stop with the party's benefactors.

The source said that some senior CCC members are reportedly unhappy with what they perceive as repeated political blunders on Chamisa’s part and there is a push to reconsider his position at the helm of that party.

However, in what seems to be a direct response to those doubting his capabilities to lead, Chamisa wrote on his X handle that he was the leader of CCC.

“HANDS OFF CCC!!! After all this investment and hard-work, they just pretend as if they don’t know who is who in CCC or that the citizens movement is not a force for change,” said Chamisa in his X account.

Political analyst Paidamoyo Mutsvairo said that the upcoming weeks would be crucial in determining CCC’s future trajectory.

“It remains to be seen how this saga unfolds, but one thing is certain: the coming weeks will be decisive for the CCC, and by extension, for the political landscape of Zimbabwe,” said Mutsvairo.
