CCC candidate faces imminent conviction ahead of Gutu West by-election

With the sentencing scheduled for this Thursday at the Gutu Magistrate Court, Morudu’s political future hangs in the balance.

According to a well-placed source, Morudu assaulted a ZANU PF supporter in Bhuka Village, within the Gutu West constituency’s Ward 7.

The incident has led to his arraignment before the courts, where he is now awaiting his fate.

“The evidence against Morudu is substantial, and his conviction seems inevitable. This Thursday’s sentencing will be crucial for him,” the source revealed, suggesting a grim outlook for Morudu’s immediate political career.

The source, requesting anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, further detailed Morudu’s contentious history.

“Morudu, a former teacher, is no stranger to legal troubles. His record of violence has resurfaced yet again. Earlier this year, he faced arrest over a sexual assault allegation. He was accused of inappropriately touching a woman’s breasts without her consent,” the source.

This behavioural pattern has reportedly eroded Morudu’s support base in Gutu West, casting a long shadow over his electoral prospects.

Community members have openly criticized the CCC candidate, labelling him a provocateur and questioning his ability to foster the development that Gutu West urgently needs.

“Morudu’s actions have painted a picture of a man who is more inclined towards violence than the virtues of leadership necessary to elevate Gutu West from its current state,” remarked another local, who declined to be named.

As the by-election draws near, the mood among the electorate is a cocktail of concern and anticipation.

With Morudu’s potential conviction, the CCC faces a daunting task to retain credibility and support within the constituency.
