Factional feuds flare within CCC: Political Analysts

According to political analyst, Terrence Chapwanya, the recent developments that include CCC Interim Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu’s move to recall legislators has been due to Chamisa’s leadership deficiency, leaving the party structureless and without a constitution for a long time.

“Sooner or later, this confusion was bound to happen, the fact that Chamisa delayed producing a party constitution and an elective congress which would help with the creation of structures, left a gap that could be manipulated and Tshabangu took it.

“The recall of Legislators and Councillors by Tshabangu is a strategic move to weaken Chamisa’s hold on that party by getting rid of his party loyalists,” said Chapwanya.

Another political analyst, John Saide implicated CCC co-vice president, Welshman Ncube as the architect of the recalls, claiming that he was pursuing a strategy similar to that of MDC-T leader, Douglas Mwonzora when he recalled 16 MDC T legislators from Parliament in March 2022.

“Ncube and Tshabangu are going for the jugular, and the strategy is similar to the one which was implemented by Douglas Mwonzora. However, theirs is much vicious as it has potential to dethrone Chamisa from his leadership position.

“There is a growing discontent within that party with those aligned to Welshman claiming that Tshabangu did very well in recalling those legislators as they were undemocratically imposed during the Candidate Selection Process (CSP).  There are rumours that some of them were girlfriends and family members to Chamisa and party organising secretary, Amos Chibaya.

Meanwhile, CCC Deputy National Spokesperson, Gift Ostallos Siziba released a statement dismissing Tshabangu's letter. Tshabangu countered, asserting that Siziba's statement was self-serving and aimed at perpetuating undemocratic practices within the party, underscoring the ongoing factional fissures.
