President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s leadership has revitalised Zanu PF, transforming the party into a dynamic and modern political force that resonates with the aspirations of Zimbabweans.
This transformation has strengthened Zanu PF’s dominance on the political landscape, securing its widespread support and making it the party of choice for many voters.
Under President Mnangagwa, who is also the Party’s President and First Secretary, Zanu PF has navigated complex challenges, including Western-imposed sanctions aimed at regime change.
The Party has consistently advanced socio-economic and political reforms, guided by the mantra, “Nyika inovakwa, igotongwa, igonamatigwa nevene vayo/Ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, likhulekelwe ngabanikazi balo” (A nation is built, governed, and prayed for by its people).
Speaking in an interview with the media recently, ZANU PF Secretary-General Dr. Obert Mpofu praised the President for revitalising the Party’s structures and management to align with modern governance standards.
“Zanu PF’s transformation is in line with resolutions from the 18th Annual National People’s Conference in Goromonzi, which prioritised strengthening and professionalising party departments to enhance operational efficiency and deliver on its promises.
“Central to Zanu PF’s agenda is the attainment of an upper-middle-income society by 2030, as outlined in the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) and the newly implemented National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2),” he said.
Dr. Mpofu highlighted significant achievements under President Mnangagwa’s leadership, including large-scale infrastructure projects, improved public services, agricultural advancements, and robust monetary and fiscal reforms.
“President Mnangagwa’s policies have improved the business environment, encouraged technology adoption, and enhanced public service delivery. Zimbabwe is now regaining regional and international prominence through the President’s engagement and re-engagement policies,” said Dr Mpofu.
Zanu PF’s success extends to the regional stage, where President Mnangagwa, as SADC Chairperson since August 2024, has shared Zimbabwe’s resilience and experiences with neighbouring nations.
Zimbabwe’s achievements, including reclaiming land and pursuing economic independence, serve as an inspiration to other liberation movements in Southern Africa.
The Party’s resounding victory in the August 2023 harmonised elections, where it decisively defeated the opposition, reaffirmed its popularity.
Subsequent by-elections have further solidified Zanu PF’s dominance, granting it a strong two-thirds parliamentary majority.
With the opposition in disarray and widespread support for President Mnangagwa’s economic transformation agenda, Zanu PF is poised to consolidate its position ahead of the 2028 elections.
