In a heartfelt address during the Presidential National Day of Prayer held at State today, President Mnangagwa urged Zimbabweans to unite in prayer and remain steadfast in their faith amidst the nation's challenges.
The event, themed ‘A Quest for God’s Help in Nation Building,’ brought together Government officials, church leaders, and citizens to seek divine guidance for the country’s development and prosperity.
President Mnangagwa emphasised the significance of the National Day of Prayer as a platform for collective worship and fellowship.
“The Presidential Prayer Breakfast has become a frequent occurrence and stands as a testimony that we remain committed to being a Government and nation guided by Almighty God and anchored on the principles of His Word,” said President Mnangagwa.
He highlighted the importance of the event in deepening the nation’s relationship with God and striving for endeavours that glorify His name.
Reflecting on the theme of the gathering, President Mnangagwa expressed the nation’s collective desire for divine intervention in its development efforts.
“Our national development philosophy is that ‘Nyika inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatigwa nevene vayo’ [the country is built, governed, and prayed for by its people],” he noted, underscoring the belief that all good things come from Jehovah.
The President emphasized the need for continuous prayer and gratitude, citing Psalm 127:1, “Unless the LORD builds the house, they that build it labour in vain. Unless the LORD keeps the city, the watchman watches but in vain.”
He urged citizens and leaders alike to seek God’s guidance and wisdom for the prosperity and success of Zimbabwe.
Highlighting the nation’s achievements, President Mnangagwa expressed gratitude for the peace, unity, and progress experienced under the Second Republic.
“We are realizing great achievements across sectors of our economy,” he said. “Our beloved nation is thankful to Almighty God for the peace, unity, love, harmony, and tranquil environment we continue to enjoy,” said the President.
Despite facing challenges such as illegal sanctions and climate change-induced droughts, the President praised the resilience and resourcefulness of Zimbabweans.
He mentioned the introduction of the Zimbabwe Gold Currency (ZiG) and the nation’s efforts to address historical issues in the Matabeleland region as significant milestones.
As Zimbabwe prepares to host the 44th Ordinary Session of the SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, President Mnangagwa called for enhanced patriotism and unity.
He further urged the nation to pray for the successful hosting of the event and for wisdom and humility as Zimbabwe assumes the Chairmanship of SADC.
