Gutu South Constituency has launched an extensive borehole drilling initiative, aiming to provide reliable access to clean water for residents, addressing long-standing water scarcity issues and fostering community development.
Gutu South Constituency Member of Parliament, Pupurai Togarepi, gave a keynote address yesterday in Mutoveni village, ward 30 highlighting that the borehole drilling projects are part of a broader initiative aimed at improving living conditions and fostering economic growth in the constituency.
"By providing reliable access to clean water, we are not only addressing a fundamental need but also paving the way for agricultural development, better health outcomes, and overall community prosperity. This initiative is a critical step towards achieving sustainable development and ensuring that no one in Gutu South is left behind,” said Hon Togarepi.
Honourable Togarepi delivered an impassioned speech on the importance of steering the community towards Vision 2030 through sustained development efforts.
“Do not resist development, but instead, embrace it with open arms. Be part and parcel of the changes and opportunities that come our way. Together, we can drive progress, improve our livelihoods, and realize the vision of a prosperous Zimbabwe by 2030. Your active participation is crucial in shaping the future of our community and ensuring that no one is left behind,” Togarepi highlighted.
Councillor Simbarashe Mutiva, of Ward 31, echoed Hon Togarepi’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in the ongoing borehole drilling projects.
“The borehole drilling initiatives are a lifeline for our community, ensuring that we have access to clean water and the means to support our families and farms. By embracing these development projects, we are not only improving our daily lives but also laying the foundation for a more prosperous future, let’s commit to this journey together and ensure that Gutu South continues to thrive,” Mutiva Said.
Villagers of Gutu South have welcomed these initiatives with enthusiasm and gratitude as Sarah Mhaka, a villager of Mutovoni Village, expressed her appreciation.
“For years, we struggled with water shortages especially during the dry season; this borehole will make a tremendous difference in our daily lives, ensuring we have access to clean water throughout the year. Our daily routines were constantly disrupted as we had to walk long distances to find water, and even then, it was often not clean. It will improve our health, allow us to grow our crops more effectively, and give us the time and energy to focus on other important aspects of our lives,” Mhaka said.
Meanwhile, the borehole drilling projects in Gutu South Constituency are a testament to the region’s commitment to sustainable development and improved living standards. These initiatives align closely with President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, which aims to transform Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy. By ensuring access to clean water, the projects support key goals of health improvement, agricultural productivity, and economic growth. Key to this objective is the development of infrastructure and services that enhance the quality of life for all citizens, particularly in rural areas.
