The #Returnees4ED initiative continues to gather strength as an increasing number of members from the Heavenly Jerusalem congregation, led by Apostle Prince Wonderful, have shifted their allegiance back to ZANU PF, moving away from the opposition.
Apostle Wonderful explained that the church's decision to realign its allegiance with ZANU PF was driven by the realisation that ZANU PF is the only party truly committed to the welfare of the people.
"The decision to return to ZANU PF comes from our need for reliable leadership that ensures the well-being of its citizens. ZANU PF’s commitment to national development aligns with our congregation’s values, compelling us to rejoin the party," stated Apostle Wonderful.
This sentiment was also echoed by one congregant, Gabriel Muchenje, who noted, “There is a noticeable resurgence in support of ZANU PF among former opposition members, indicating a significant political realignment in Zimbabwe. Faced with ongoing economic and social challenges, more of us are looking towards practical solutions and dependable governance.”
Political analyst Mercy Muchemwa said that the reintegration of 35 members from the Heavenly Jerusalem congregation into the ZANU PF not only bolsters the Party's numbers but also significantly boosts morale, indicating strengthened confidence in President Mnangagwa’s leadership and his vision for Zimbabwe’s future.
“The departure of key members from the opposition, like those from the Heavenly Jerusalem congregation, presents major challenges for those who want to resuscitate opposition politics in Zimbabwe. It highlights a critical need for the opposition to re-evaluate its strategies and leadership approach,” said Muchemwa.
Muchemwa further noted, “The #Returnees4ED movement's growth reflects the dynamic nature of Zimbabwean politics and the critical importance of addressing the diverse needs and perspectives within the country.”
Another political commentator, Gracious Mumviro, said that amid these shifts, ZANU PF continues to emphasise its dedication to inclusive governance and sustainable development, welcoming back members who believe in the party's vision.
“With the growing momentum of the #Returnees4ED movement, ZANU PF looks forward to addressing the upcoming challenges and seizing the opportunities for the betterment of Zimbabwe,” said Mumviro.
Meanwhile, the congregation's move back to ZANU PF is seen as a search for stability and effective governance, qualities they found lacking in the opposition.
