The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) 2024's official opening ceremony has been rescheduled to Saturday, April 27.
The adjustment comes as a deviation from the initial plans of inaugurating the event on Friday, April 26.
In a statement released today, ZITF Chairperson Busisa Moyo addressed the change, citing "unforeseen circumstances" as the cause for the postponement.
Moyo provided details on the new schedule, stating, "The ZITF Company wishes to inform the public that due to unforeseen circumstances, the ZITF 2024 Official Opening Ceremony has been moved from the previously advertised date and time to Saturday, April 27, 2024, beginning promptly at 1000 hours. Guests are to be seated in the Main Arena at 0930 hours."
Continuing with the statement, Moyo confirmed that the Guest of Honour for the event remains unchanged.
“The President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency, President Dr William Kipchirchir Samoei Arap Ruto, will be the Guest of Honour and will officiate the opening of the show. He will be accompanied by the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and Patron of ZITF, His Excellency Dr Emmerson D. Mnangagwa,” said Moyo.
In preparation for the grand opening, President Mnangagwa is scheduled to preview the Fair's offerings by touring the stands on Friday.
The anticipation for this year's ZITF is high, as the event has been oversubscribed with a significant number of international exhibitors, including those from Britain and the European Union.
The remarkable interest from such prominent international exhibitors highlights the trade fair's growing reputation as a hub for global business and trade.
The ZITF is poised to commence amidst this surge of international interest and a lineup of notable guests, promising to deliver an event that transcends the boundaries of trade and commerce, enhancing the image of Zimbabwe as a nation open for business and rich with opportunities.
