President Emmerson Mnangagwa implored the business community not to sacrifice Zimbabwe for personal gains.
He said this while speaking at the National Heroes Acre in Harare during the burial ceremony of the late National hero, Oliver Mandishona Chidawu,
“I, therefore, challenge established and the emerging crop of business persons to learn from the character, ethics, integrity and professional conduct of our late National Hero, Cde Chidawu. Personal wealth should never be sought after at the expense of our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe,” President Mnangagwa said.
In his address, he encouraged business persons to be patriotic and take part in the development of Zimbabwe inspired bythe philosophy “Nyika ino vakwa nevene vayo.”
President Mnangagwa bemoaned the relentless attacks on the Second Republic by the United States government and its allies, and warned the detractors that Zimbabwe’s Independence, freedom, sovereignty, democracy, patriotism and dignity are not for sale.
“Zimbabwe continues to face attacks by our perennial detractors. However, we will never give in to their machinations and heinous quest to establish a puppet regime in our country. No matter the suffering they may try to inflict on our people, our Independence is not for sale; our freedom is not for sale; our sovereignty is not for sale; our democracy, patriotism and dignity as well as institutions and heritage are not for sale! Let those with ears hear us loud and clear,” said the President.
Recently on his official Twitter handle, Director of Vanguard for Africa, Jeffrey Smith exposed his plan to effect regime change in Zimbabwe through sponsoring social media smear campaigns against ZANU PF and the President.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe has been under the illegal sanctions from the West and its allies for 22 years now. These sanctions have proved to be ineffective as the ZANU PF party and its Government have managed to keep its economy afloat, thanks to President Mnangagwa’s engagement and re-engagement policies and economic policies which are people centred.. Due to these policies, development has been witnessed in infrastructure, agriculture, mining and the health sector.
