The ruling ZANU PF Party is set to deploy senior members to the country’s ten provinces to take stock of the structures as the Party prepares for the 2023 plebiscite.
Addressing the media during the Party’s weekly press briefing in Harare yesterday, acting Secretary for Information and Publicity, Dr Mike Bimha said that members that would be deployed to the provinces would be required to submit reports to the commissariat department after the exercise.
“Deployed teams will be required to submit to the Politburo team leader in charge of their respective provinces comprehensive written reports on the state of the Party affairs in their respective DCCs to which they have been deployed. In turn, the Politburo team leaders will submit consolidated provincial report to the commissariat department,” said Cde Bimha.
Cde Bimha added that by now, the restructuring of Party Cells, Branches and Districts should have been complete as provinces were given up to the 9th of this month to complete the exercise.
According to Cde Bimha, the commissariat department is currently organising inter district meetings to be held from the 12th to 14th December and Politburo members will be deployed to address those meetings. He added that the team leaders will be joined by the Central Committee members in those respective provinces who will in turn be deployed in various administrative districts.
Cde Bimha said that the objectives of the inter district meetings will be to receive progress reports on the restructuring exercise, assess the data capturing exercise for cells, branches and districts, address any challenges encountered during the restructuring exercise as well as impart the values of the Party to its structures.
The acting spokesperson further said that every Zanu PF member must acquire an electronic card and advised that the issuance of Party electronic cards will soon commence in Harare before cascading to other provinces. He added that the Party will in due course advise members on the centres in which the cards will be obtained in their provinces.
ZANU PF is targeting 5 million votes in the forthcoming 2023 harmonised elections and to date it has registered nearly 4 million potential voters in its database.
