The MDC Alliance Organizing Secretary, Amos Chibaya, is currently criss crossing the country manipulating structures, giving members sympathetic to that party’s co-vice leader, Tendai Biti influential positions.
A source within the MDC Alliance accused Chibaya of working against Chamisa and propping up the image of Biti who has support of the West.
The source added that Chibaya was causing havoc in the Midlands province, where he wants to impose Kwekwe Mayor, Angeline Kasipo, to be the chairperson against people’s wishes.
“Chibaya is causing problems within the party. He is working against the president (Chamisa) and is allowing people with questionable loyalty to occupy top positions. For instance, in Midlands Province, Chibaya is pushing for Angeline Kasipo to be the Women Assembly Chairperson ahead of senior cadres like Judith Tobaiwa,” said the source.
The source added that it was worrying that Chibaya could pick Kasipo, a person who does not even know the MDC Alliance slogan, to be the chairperson.
“We know that Chibaya is laying ground for Biti who wants to challenge president Chamisa at the next congress. The reason why people like Kasipo, who even don’t know our party slogan, are picked to be the chairperson is because they are sympathetic to Biti,” added the source.
Chibaya has also been accused by some MDC Alliance in Bulawayo of supporting the embattled provincial chairperson, James Sithole because of his links to the Maruva/Kensington cabal.
Chibaya was in Bulawayo last week and he dismissed the vote of no confidence passed by the youths in Sithole’s leadership as null and void and urged the warring factions to work together and respect Sithole as the provincial chairperson.
Meanwhile, a fact finding team led by MDC Alliance co-vice leader Lynnette Karenyi Kore, landed in Bulawayo yesterday to unearth the causes of the factional battles within that province. However, there are reports that Chibaya influenced a lot of people in that province to speak in support of Sithole when being interviewed by the fact finding team.
