Zimbabwe is accelerating on a path of transformation, with the Second Republic under President Emmerson Mnangagwa spearheading bold reforms and development projects that are reshaping the nation’s economic and social landscape.
Guided by a people-first and inclusive development approach, the ZANU PF-led government is implementing high-impact programmes that are changing lives across urban and rural areas. From massive infrastructure rollouts to community empowerment initiatives, the momentum of development is palpable.
ZANU PF Secretary General, Dr Obert Mpofu, speaking during a recent national development review, praised President Mnangagwa’s leadership, describing it as grounded in servant leadership and grassroots consultation. He credited this approach for the tangible progress being witnessed in many sectors.
“We have seen unprecedented development under President Mnangagwa’s leadership. His consultative and inclusive style ensures that no region or group is left behind,” said Dr Mpofu.
Highlighting key achievements, Dr Mpofu pointed to the modernisation of the Beitbridge-Chirundu Highway, the construction of new dams, and the establishment of income-generating business units in communities. These, he said, have not only stimulated local economies but also attracted foreign investment.
“There is renewed investor confidence, thanks to an enabling environment created by the President. Mega projects in steel production, agriculture, and road infrastructure are now taking shape. Our mining and agriculture sectors are registering record outputs, and tourism is bouncing back strongly,” he added.
President Mnangagwa’s frequent visits to remote rural communities have become a hallmark of his leadership, something Dr Mpofu described as historic.
“His hands-on engagement with citizens in every province is uniting the country. It is a clear demonstration that development under the Second Republic is truly inclusive,” he said.
Flagship projects such as the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport upgrade, the Mbudzi Interchangeconstruction, and irrigation schemes linked to newly constructed dams have significantly improved access to services, markets, and economic opportunities.
On the international front, Zimbabwe’s Engagement and Re-Engagement policy has opened new diplomatic and trade channels. According to Dr Mpofu, this strategic foreign policy thrust has enhanced Zimbabwe’s global image and created new avenues for cooperation and growth.
As the nation steadily progresses toward its Vision 2030 goal of attaining upper-middle-income status, the government has reaffirmed its commitment to broad-based development, infrastructure growth, and people-oriented service delivery.
With strong leadership and focused implementation, Zimbabwe’s development story is being rewritten—one milestone at a time.
