MDC Alliance’s co vice leader, Welshman Ncube is being accused of creating parallel structures in Bulawayo Province while sabotaging party programmes being spearheaded by national chairperson, Thabitha Khumalo in that Province.
A well-placed source in the MDC Alliance said some party members were not happy with the conduct of Ncube whom they are accusing of harboring a sinister motive of destroying the MDC Alliance from within. According to the source, Ncube is defying party protocols and is conducting party meetings in several districts without the blessing of Khumalo who should be introducing Ncube at such meetings.
“There is confusion in Bulawayo because of Welshman Ncube. Ncube has created parallel structures and is moving around with Bulawayo Chairperson James Sithole, National Executive Member Gift Banda and Provincial member Phumulani Sibanda conducting meeting in districts. Although these meeting are sanctioned by the party, the protocol is that Ncube should be introduced at these meetings by a senior member like Khumalo. However, he is sidelining her although they reside in the same Province. Maybe they are sidelining her because she is not in their faction,” said the source.
The same source added that there was shocking evidence that Ncube, Sithole and Sibanda are active participants in MDC T’s WhatsApp groups and are influencing other MDC Alliance members to support Douglass Mwonzora and Thokozani Khupe.
This publication has it on good authority that some Bulawayo members are contemplating writing a petition to Nelson Chamisa to arraign his deputy before a disciplinary committee to explain why he is creating parallel structures as well as participating in MDC T WhatsApp group.
The source said Ncube should be expelled from the party because he is causing divisions within that party.
“Ncube is not fit to be the vice president of the party because he is divisive, tribalistic and egocentric. He has never loved the party and his breakaway formation in 2013 denied the MDC a chance to form a Government. It seems he is not repentant as he is working tirelessly to sabotage party programmes while propping his image and that of his allies like Sithole and Banda,” fumed the source.
The source said it was shocking to see Ncube sabotaging a party meeting that was addressed by Khumalo in Nketa recently. The source added that Ncube was always absent every time Chamisa visits the province and members are questioning his loyalty to the party and its leadership.
The same source added that it was shocking that Ncube was hobnobbing with the likes of Sithole who is on the verge of being expelled from the party because of his links to the MDC T.
Factional fights in Bulawayo MDC A structures seem to be escalating with the party sharply divided between Shona and Ndebele speaking people. The division is threatening the continued dominance of that party in the province as the country heads for 2023 elections.
