MDC A councilor mobilizes for Mthwakazi

MDC Alliance Bulawayo Ward 25 councilor, Mzamo Dube, is under attack by his party which accuses him of mobilising for the pro cessation party, Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP).

Cllr Dube reportedly resorted to campaigning for the cessationist party as a protest to the continued dominance of the MDC A structures by Shona-speaking people.

An impeccable source within the MDC Alliance revealed to this publication that Dube was working in cahoots with a war veteran, Colleen Ndlovu, to urge people in Nketa District to join MRP in the event that the MDC Alliance imposes a Shona-speaking candidate in 2023.

“Dube is working with a war veteran called Colleen Ndlovu who recently joined the party, to urge people of Nketa District to rather join MRP in 2023 than voting for MDC Alliance in the event that a Shona-speaking candidate is imposed on them. Dube is alleging that the MDC Alliance’s structures in Nketa District are largely occupied by Shona-speaking people and he described this as an anomaly that could not be further entertained. He is saying it’s better for people to cross over to MRP as it was pursuing the interests of the Ndebele people in Bulawayo than MDC Alliance,” said the source.

Dube, Ndlovu and provincial member Phumulani Sibanda, who is eyeing the Nketa constituency in 2023, are also being accused of labeling their leader, Nelson Chamisa, a tribalist who only favours the Shona people within the party.

“The trio of Dube, Ndlovu and Sibanda are insinuating that Chamisa is a tribalist who only favour the Shona people in the party. Dube is perpetuating the narration that Chamisa is pushing for a Shona candidate to replace sitting Nketa legislator Masuku Phelela. Dube and Sibanda are resisting the imposition of a Shona candidate in Nketa as Sibanda has interests in that constituency,” added the source.

The source added that Dube and his company are frequently holding strategic meetings at Bulawayo library where they are strategizing on how they could consolidate power within the Bulawayo MDC A structures.

According to the source, Dube and Sibanda do not have the MDC Alliance at heart because they are known MDC T sympathizers as they have a soft spot for that party’s deputy leader, Thokozani Khupe whom they say is a proponent of Ndebele dominance in Bulawayo politics.

Efforts to get a comment from that party’s Bulawayo spokesperson Swirthern Chirowodza were futile as his phone was not reachable.
