All roads in Mashonaland West this weekend lead to Murombedzi Growth Point where the Zanu PF Economic Development train led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, is set to kick-start its “Thank You Rallies” following the July 30 resounding electoral victory.
The Thank You Rallies which are part of a cocktail of Zanu PF pro-people interactive programmes comes a few days after the 2nd Republic of Zimbabwe has just held its 8th Cabinet session.
The people of Mashonaland West have all reasons to smile all the way to Murombezi Growth Point where they are to have deliberations and achievements recorded in the first 8 Cabinet sessions unpacked.
Announcing the news of the Thank You Rally at a recent Zanu PF Mashonaland West Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting the party’s Provincial Chairman, Ziyambi Ziyambi could not hide his jubilation
Ziyambi reportedly said: "The President is going to have a rally at Murombedzi Growth Point this Saturday to thank the people for voting overwhelmingly for him and Zanu-PF. "
"It's the first rally and I think he is going to have other such rallies throughout the country. We feel excited, humbled and honoured that he chose to start in Mashonaland West province," added Cde Ziyambi.
President Mnangagwa’s Thank You Rally resonates well with his assertion on the supremacy of the party and his servant leadership proclamations.
As a listening President it also gives him and his lieutenants an opportunity to directly get feedback from the masses on the performance of the Government by party members.
As the Economic Development Train roars into Mashonaland West commendable scores have been made by Government so far with the issue of devolution likely to steal the limelight.
Firstly, the good news is that the Cabinet has approved principles of the Provincial Councils and Administration Amendment Bill which spells out the mechanisms of decentralisation and devolution. What remains is for Cabinet to expedite its processes with the responsible Ministry of Local Government making its submission to Parliament.
Noteworthy, is that whereas in the public domain devolution has been viewed as a Matabeleland issue and of late Manicaland, this is an issue for all the provinces.
The Murombedzi Growth point rally also comes barely a week before President Mnangagwa commissions the construction of the $140 million New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden, in the same province. The massive project is set to create significant job opportunities particularly in the construction industry and other downstream industries.
Secondly, the rally comes after Government through the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development has started works on the Chirundu-Beitbridge Road using internal resources. Government has so far raised an excess of US$100 million for the commencement of the road works.
Thirdly, the Agricultural Revolution is with us. Both Government and the private sector are pushing more resources towards the revival of agriculture through the provision of affordable inputs and contract farming.
From the private sector soya beans contract farming being introduced by the Oil Expressers Association of Zimbabwe, another story to be told to its fullest on its impact on the livelihoods of the generality of our people.
On its part Government has underscored its commitments towards the revival of agriculture through the installation of state of the art centre pivots that are set to turn our arable land into flourishing greenbelts.
On 30 November 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture will for the first time in the history of Zimbabwe hold the inaugural National Young Farmers Awards.
It is being held under the theme “Young farmers increasing yields and profitability through the use of climate smart agriculture, ICTs and innovations.”
The winners have been drawn from the country’s 10 provinces and is aimed at encouraging youth participation in Agriculture.
Above all the rallies also gives the President an opportunity to the listen to the people on emerging challenges especially the unjustified price increases.
