The media was recently awash with reports to the effect that the American government intends to intensify its illegal sanctions against Zimbabwe. A lot has been written with regards to how the said sanctions have decimated the Zimbabwean economy – a development that saw the United States Embassy in Harare doling out large sums of money to government detractors to push the narrative that it was not the illegal sanctions fast tracking economic collapse, turning the issue into a what came first, the chicken or egg kind of argument.

The current Constitution of Zimbabwe came through the Constitutional amendment number 20 of the Lancaster House constitution in 2013 following an extensive nationwide consultation process. The 1979 Lancaster House Constitution which had been adopted in 1980 was amended 19 times before the adoption of the new national charter in March 2013. The new Constitution came about after thousands of outreach Constitution Making Process meetings were held across the country where people expressed what they wanted to be included in the supreme law of the land.

The advent of the Second Republic saw the First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa retiring from mainstream politics choosing to focus on charity work. In her compassion, Amai Mnangagwa saw that there were some members of the society and other aspects of life which were not being attended to and this created an anomaly which needed to be corrected to bring normalcy. Some armchair critics started castigating the First Lady on her projects which is unfair criticism.
