Zimbabweans should start realising the riches that comes with a united rather than a divided nation. We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.
Elections have come and gone, let us now girdle our loins and contribute towards nation building. This is no longer the time to continue holding on to political differences at the expense of the economy. For how long can we allow the elections hang over to get the better of us?
The current economic quagmire being experienced in the country should not divide the nation but requires all the brains that are in-order to rediscover the lost economic mojo. There is no way that we can expect a knee jerk economic turnaround when other elements amongst us are the devil’s advocacies.
Zimbabwe is coining a new trajectory that every citizenry should be seized with and support. Agonisingly enough, the country seems to continue being divided along political lines.
Unity of purpose is needed more than before. In unity the country can rediscover its past glory. It is disheartening how some citizens are rejoicing in the increasing cost of living that is being exacerbated by the sharp increase in the prices of basic commodities. All this is being celebrated as after effects of the alleged electoral theft by President Mnangagwa. The claim lacks substance though and even the European Union Observation Mission to Zimbabwe (EUOM) admitted that the opposition’s court challenge lacked sufficient evidentiary material.
As has been evidenced already, it is not President Mnangagwa and the elite in the country who can be at the receiving end of this economic scourge but an ordinary citizen. This alone should remind somebody that we need to have unity of purpose and do what we can to support the President and his cabinet.
Truly the Zimbabwean economy will reboot if we pull in the same direction without linking everything to politics but will definitely crumble if we continue to sabotage the new status quo. The Minister of Finance, Prof. Mthuli Ncube has promised a raft of measures that are aimed at stabilising the economy. As he promised, the darkest hour is nearest the dawn and no gem can be perfected without friction. Zimbabwe will definitely emerge from the woods and be a force to reckon.
Leading by example, the President generously outstretched his arms to Chamisa so that they build the country together. That was a clarion call to unity of purpose. Chamisa needs to eat a humble pie and reconsider his defiance and join hands with the rest of the country in working together.
One great speaker once said, “Unity is a famous ingredient for every successful recipe. Be it strengthening family bonds, winning games, or experiencing mere miracles of friendship, unity plays an important role in achieving everything that is positive. Sometimes unity means pulling yourself together when life seems a big debacle.”
In these severe times we need to be stronger and support each other. Unity to be real must stand the severest strain without breaking, so they say. Chamisa should be considerate and help in nation building. The 40%+ vote that he got is vital and should be brought together for nation building.
What bonds us is stronger than what separates us. After everything has been said and done as Zimbabweans we still have a life to live, a life outside politics. Let every individual be challenged to have an introspection and be serious on building a dream Zimbabwe.
We don’t want a stone age Zimbabwe in this age and era because of machinations of detractors. By and large, Zimbabweans we hold our campus of life and it is incumbent to everyone to point the right direction. United we stand, divided we fall!
