Government has dismissed attempts by disgraced former ZANU PF Central Committee member Blessed Geza to introduce an impeachment motion against President Mnangagwa, stating that the move lacks legal merit, political backing, and public support.
Geza, who previously orchestrated a failed uprising, has circulated a document on social media claiming he will lead impeachment proceedings in Parliament.
However, the document has been widely criticized as containing baseless allegations and fabrications.
The Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Jenfan Muswere yesterday, dismissed Geza’s impeachment push as a desperate publicity stunt by a "fugitive terrorist" with no credibility.
“The so-called impeachment document is worthless—not even worth the paper it’s written on. The people of Zimbabwe and their elected representatives stand firmly behind President Mnangagwa, who was democratically elected in 2023 with overwhelming support,” Dr. Muswere said.
He further mocked Geza’s self-proclaimed alias, Cde Bombshell, stating, “There is nothing ‘bombshell’ about him—just an empty shell.”
Minister Muswere emphasized that ZANU PF holds a strong majority in Parliament, with broad cross-party respect for the President’s leadership.
He noted that even opposition MPs recognize the progress made under the Second Republic.
“The impeachment motion is a vexatious fantasy with no constitutional or logical basis,” he said. “Zimbabwe’s lawmakers will never entertain such frivolous attempts,” the Minister said.
The Minister also highlighted that Geza remains a wanted man for his alleged role in treasonous activities, including the failed March 31 protests.
“Geza is hiding from the law, yet he continues to spread falsehoods online. The peace-loving people of Zimbabwe have rejected his destabilizing agenda,” Dr. Muswere said.
Minister Muswere reiterated his confidence in President Mnangagwa’s leadership, stating that Zimbabwe is on a path of prosperity and stability.
“No malicious political schemes will derail the nation’s progress. Those peddling falsehoods should prepare to face justice instead of wasting time on doomed impeachment fantasies,” Dr. Muswere declared.
The Minister warned against the circulation of fabricated documents, including those falsely attributed to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ).
