Yesterday, Government commissioned the newly constructed Gwebi River Bridge and a 4-kilometer extension of the Old Mazowe Road, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to infrastructure development.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Felix Mhona, officiated at the ceremony, underscoring the enduring nature of the current road construction projects.
“The ongoing road construction projects will extend beyond the SADC Summit, showcasing our Government’s dedication to infrastructure development as part of Vision 2030,” Minister Mhona declared.
Minister Mhona also highlighted the Government’s broader infrastructure agenda.
“Besides road rehabilitation, the Second Republic has prioritized various infrastructure development projects nationwide. These efforts are comprehensive, covering major highways and suburban roads alike,” he added.
The Minister commended Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume for his cooperative approach, emphasizing the importance of unity in driving national progress.
“I commend Mayor Mafume for embracing the politics of cooperation rather than opposition for its own sake. This spirit of unity is crucial for our country’s advancement,” he said.
Minister Mhona noted the tangible achievements of the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa.
“Naysayers have been silenced by the visible results of our development initiatives.
I thank His Excellency for promoting domestic value chains and allowing locals to take charge of their development in line with the ‘Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo’ mantra,” he added.
Also in attendance was Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Jenfan Muswere who praised President Mnangagwa’s visionary leadership.
“President Mnangagwa’s development initiatives are driving the modernization and growth of our country. The road refurbishment projects have created thousands of jobs,” Dr. Muswere noted.
Chair of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Transport and Infrastructural Development, Knowledge Kaitano, lauded Minister Mhona’s efforts, affirming their alignment with President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030.
“Minister Mhona’s dedication and his ministry’s work are perfectly aligned with the President’s vision for our country’s future. The rehabilitation of Old Mazowe Road and other infrastructure projects nationwide reflect the Government’s strategic vision to promote development and prosperity, ensuring a brighter future for Zimbabweans,” Honourable Kaitano stated.
The ceremony saw the presence of several cabinet ministers, Mayor Mafume, and other senior government officials.
The project, which includes extensive resurfacing, epitomizes the Government’s dedication to fostering economic growth, attracting investment, and enhancing the quality of life for all Zimbabweans.
