“The BSPZ Centre was constructed with the goal of boosting the quality of teaching and learning experience for Zaka schools. Another goal of the Centre is to improve teachers' professional development through the establishment of professional infrastructure,” Farisai said.
Furthermore, Farisai noted that the Centre would fore-see the implementation of the competence-based education curriculum.
‘’In addition to functioning as a training and capacity-building facility for teachers and learners, the Resource Centre is expected to improve the implementation of the competence-based education curriculum,” he said
In a similar interview with one of the school heads in Zaka District, Jonas Mucheki, he also stated other benefits of the Centre, “The BSPZ center will provide shelter for local communities in the event of natural disasters such as a cyclone.
“It will also help in developing a pool of effective trainers for in-service training programmes. It is our desire that the center would open management structures that support growth and development for the Zaka community,” added Mucheki
Meanwhile, the BSPZ is a capacity-building initiative within the Ministry of Education, aimed at enhancing school effectiveness. The programme was launched in 2021 and has currently made an impact across various provinces in the country.
