ZANU PF has clarified that it has not yet issued any directives for its organs to commence the restructuring exercise.
In a statement yesterday, the ZANU PF National Political Commissar (NPC), Dr Bimha, emphasised the absence of official sanctioning for these activities, highlighting the Party's current stance on its organisational structure.
"The Commissariat Department wishes to remind all Provincial leadership that the Party has not yet given any authority for Provinces to embark on any form of restructuring of any of its organs," Dr Bimha said.
The NPC further announced that a formal circular would soon be released to initiate the restructuring of Party cells across the country, urging Provinces to await specific guidelines on how to proceed with these sanctioned changes.
This clarification comes amidst concerns raised by some national leadership over reports from some Provinces.
According to these reports, certain Provincial leaders had instructed the restructuring of Party districts and District Coordinating Committees (DCCs), a move that has not been endorsed by the Commissariat Department.
Dr Bimha said that such actions by the leadership at the Provincial level were causing confusion among the Party's general membership.
The NPC issued a warning against the continuation of these unauthorized activities, stating, "Any leadership involved in such improper activities is therefore warned to stop doing so forthwith."
Dr Bimha underscored the importance of maintaining order within the Party's ranks, emphasising that the premature restructuring efforts were detracting from the Party's primary focus.
In the meantime, Dr. Bimha has directed that all efforts should be concentrated on preparing for the official restructuring of Party cells.
Political commentator Edith Mushore said that the statement from Dr Bimha was important as it ensured a cohesive and organised framework for the Party's operational activities.
“The emphasis on awaiting official communication and adhering to the prescribed processes underscores the Party's commitment to disciplined and structured governance within its ranks as it continues to navigate the complexities of political management and leadership," said Mushore.
Mushore further stated that ZANU PF has a mantle of discipline, and its members should remain disciplined to avoid friction within the Party.
