...as his resignation costs him political funding

Following his resignation from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), former leader, Nelson Chamisa is poised to face a financial setback, having not only relinquished his position within that party but also parted ways with the proceeds of the Political Parties Finance Act (PPFA) grant.
Political commentator, Calvin Chitsunge, speaking to the Harare Post, highlighted that Chamisa's resignation from the CCC renders him ineligible for the PPFA grant as he no longer represents any political entity.
"As it stands, Chamisa no longer has a party that he represents; therefore, he will not receive anything from the PPFA grant," explained Chitsunge, underscoring the immediate financial implications of Chamisa's departure from the CCC.
However, an insider source revealed to this publication that senior CCC members had premeditated the denial of PPFA funds to Chamisa.
At a recent clandestine meeting held in Bulawayo, CCC leaders, Charlton Hwende, Welshman Ncube, and David Coltart were designated as signatories for the bank account earmarked to receive the PPFA funds.
The decision, according to the source, aimed to prevent potential abuse of funds, drawing attention to past instances where CCC finances routed through Chamisa had faced allegations of mismanagement.
"At a secret meeting recently held in Bulawayo by some CCC senior members, it was resolved that Hwende, Ncube, and Coltart be the signatories of the bank account where the PPFA funds would be deposited. The meeting agreed that if the funds were to be deposited in a bank account controlled by Chamisa or his loyalists, it would be prone to abuse, as had happened to other CCC funds that were channelled through Chamisa," disclosed the source.
Following his public announcement of his resignation from the CCC, Chamisa is reportedly gearing up to launch a new political entity named the Democratic Alternative of Zimbabwe (DAZ), adopting a blue colour as its official hue.
"In the wake of his departure from the CCC, Chamisa is poised to unveil a fresh political party named the Democratic Alternative of Zimbabwe, where the colour blue symbolises the official hue of change and progress,” said the source.
That party's top hierarchy is expected to be dominated by Chamisa loyalists, including Gift Ostallos Siziba, Amos Chibaya, and Caston Matewu.
Efforts to obtain comments from Siziba and Chibaya proved futile, as they did not respond to queries sent to them via WhatsApp.
