In a recent press statement the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, and Rural Development, asserted its unwavering position on illegal settlements, categorically stating that individuals who occupying state land without proper tenure documents will face the full force of the law.
The Government remains resolute in its decision not to regularize such settlements and warns of legal consequences for those involved. The press release explicitly states, "The full wrath of the law will be applied in such cases of illegal settlements," making it clear that there will be no leniency for those who disregard the established procedures for obtaining tenure on state-owned land.
Furthermore, the Government gave a stern advisory to the public, emphasizing that agricultural land is not for sale.
“Citizens are urged not to pay and not to allow anyone to charge fees for access to agricultural land.
“Citizens should unhesitantly report any suspicious activities related to illegal land transactions to law enforcement agencies or directly to the Government,” read the statement.
This decisive stance by the Government highlights its commitment to maintaining the integrity of land use and ensuring that agricultural land serves its intended purpose.
Responding to the press statement, a land owner in Harare, Tendai Chiripasi lauded the move by the Government.
“The nation is currently grappling with the challenge of unauthorized land settlements, and a lot of people are being robbed off their money by chancers. The Government’s stance is commendable and this shows that it is dedicated to uphold the law and protect the nation's valuable resources,” Chiripasi added
The resolute position by the Ministry of Agriculture aims to deter illegal land activities, ensuring that state-owned land is used in accordance with established regulations.
