In a robust call to action, Zanu PF's National Political Commissar, Dr. Mike Bimha, has rallied the Party's substantial membership base to turn out in force for the upcoming council and National Assembly by-elections, on 09 December 2023.
During a press conference held at a local hotel in Bulawayo yesterday, Dr. Bimha emphasised the need for a decisive victory against the fragmented opposition, underscoring the significance of these elections in shaping the nation's political landscape.
Flanked by Zanu PF's Masvingo provincial chair, Cde Robson Mavhenyengwa, and other senior leaders, Dr. Bimha stated that the ruling Party must not underestimate the importance of each vote.
"Our members might think the victory is assured, but I urge them not to take it for granted. Every vote counts in demonstrating our party's strength and unity," he stated.
Dr. Bimha also reiterated President Mnangagwa's consistent calls for peaceful voting. He stressed the importance of maintaining peace and order before, during, and after the elections, aligning with the President's vision for a harmonious electoral process.
"I urge our members to vote peacefully and refrain from violence. Any acts of violence are not in line with our Party's principles, and the law enforcement agencies should take appropriate action against such misconduct," he added.
The National Political Commissar paid tribute to the Presidium for their leadership and active campaigning efforts for the revolutionary party. He said that their involvement is seen as a pivotal factor in rallying support and energising the Party's base ahead of these critical by-elections.
Looking beyond this weekend's elections, Dr. Bimha touched on the subsequent by-elections scheduled for February 3 next year.
The National PC announced that a strategic meeting led by Zanu PF's National Chairperson, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, will convene with provincial leaders from all provinces where these by-elections are set to occur.
He said the purpose of this meeting would be to strategize and align the Party's efforts across the provinces, ensuring a coordinated and effective campaign.
Meanwhile, Dr. Bimha's message was a clarion call to the Zanu PF membership to demonstrate their commitment to the Party and the nation by actively participating in the electoral process.
With a focus on peaceful electoral environment and a united front, Zanu PF is setting the stage for what it hopes will be a resounding success in the upcoming by-elections, solidifying its position in Zimbabwe's political arena.
