Outgoing European Union (EU) Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Van Damme has challenged Zimbabweans to work together.
Speaking during a farewell dialogue hosted by the Media Institute for Southern Africa (MISA) in Harare recently, the Ambassador said Zimbabweans should promote a spirit of togetherness.
“There is a lack of a spirit of enthusiasm and working together in the country...there is life after elections for both the loser and the winner,” said the outgoing Ambassador.
He also said that Zimbabweans needed to realise that there was need to concentrate on the future of the country regardless of the con-court proceedings.
“People should focus on the future rather than concentrating on court proceedings. The issuance of a statement by the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) calling for Zimbabweans to rebuild Zimbabwe is commendable,” he said.
The outgoing Ambassador also said that the country should resolve its division and unite for the common cause of advancement.
“The country is a divided nation, it needs to have normal relations among its citizens before successfully engaging with the outside world,” said the Ambassador.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa continues to send a message of non violence and unity amongst citizens.
