Corruption saga engulfs CCC

…as Mkwananzi plots mass market takeover

The spectre of corruption rears its ugly head once again within the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), as alarming allegations emerge against Promise Mkwananzi, that party’s spokesperson.

Reports have surfaced, shedding light on Mkwananzi's alleged deep involvement in a questionable scheme aimed at seizing control of valuable mass markets and municipal properties in Kadoma.

Central to this brewing scandal are two shelf companies suspected to be the façade behind this covert operation, raising serious concerns about the integrity of CCC’s leadership and operations.

A source familiar with the situation has disclosed that Mkwananzi is collaborating with Deven Levy in this venture, with plans to refurbish and subsequently rent out these mass markets for profit.

According to the source, Mkwananzi recently made a trip to Kadoma to discuss this grand scheme with the city mayor, Nigel Ruzario. During this meeting, Mkwananzi allegedly outlined his plans to acquire the mass markets, even going as far as promising Ruzario shares in the venture should he facilitate the takeover.

Further claims from the source suggest that Mkwananzi assured Ruzario of Levy’s willingness to financially incentivize Kadoma councillors to secure their approval for the takeover.

The source added that this blatant display of corruption and manipulation underscores the lengths to which Mkwananzi and his associates are willing to go in pursuit of their interests.

Political commentator Edith Mushore has weighed in on the controversy, highlighting the detrimental impact this takeover would have on ordinary citizens reliant on the markets.

Mushore criticised Mkwananzi’s actions as reflective of the broader culture within the CCC, a party that purports to champion the people’s interests but whose leaders appear primarily focused on self-enrichment.

“These allegations cast a big shadow on Mkwananzi’s role within the party, exposing a potential web of deceit and corruption. With these mass markets and properties being critical assets of the Kadoma Municipality, the possible illicit takeover orchestrated by Mkwananzi threatens not only the economic stability of the city but also the reputation of the CCC. The involvement of the shelf companies further complicates the situation, creating an intricate tapestry of deception that demands immediate investigation and transparency,” Mushore stated.

This latest scandal places CCC under intense scrutiny, raising doubts about that party’s dedication to fighting corruption and fostering a just and equitable society.

As the citizens of Kadoma and the wider Zimbabwean public grapple with these revelations, the call for accountability and transparency within the CCC has never been louder.
