ZANU PF Gwanda North candidate for the forthcoming harmonised general elections, Cde Lungisani Ncube, has vowed to implement development programmes that would transform that rural constituency in line with President Emerson Mnangagwa’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind in terms of development.
The 49 year old Cde Ncube told this publication that he was determined to drive the Government’s agenda of rural industrialisation and to help uplift the people in his constituency from poverty.
Cde Ncube commended the Second Republic for prioritising rural development and said that he would not tire to lead in the implementation of life changing programmes in Gwanda North.
“I was born in Bulawayo, but I grew up in rural Gwanda. Rural communities have in the past been neglected when it comes to development and only recently have we seen a change under the capable leadership of President Mnangagwa,” said Ncube.
Cde Ncube added that the President’s rural industrialisation drive which is gathering momentum was what the country needed in order to improve the lives of rural people.
“I intend to run with this drive of rural industrialisation and bring the much needed development to Gwanda North. I have already identified the major development areas which I intend to tackle first,” he said.
Cde Ncube said his constituency already had two major irrigation schemes, Makwe and Mtshabezi Irrigation Schemes and there was need for the two projects to birth massive industrialisation activity in the area.
“Makwe and Mtshabezi Irrigation schemes have to be turned into major food sources. The schemes must support massive industrialisation activities such as a food processing which will create employment to many of our people. The dams which are supplying the irrigation schemes can also support other projects such as fishery. There is also need for the youths to be trained so that they can play an active role in developing the agricultural sector,” said Cde Ncube.
Meanwhile, ZANU PF has capacitated its candidates with brand new vehicles to assist in the mobilisation of votes ahead of this year’s plebiscite.
