Ahead of this year’s general elections, the ZANU PF Youth League Secretary for Youth Affairs, Cde Tinomuda Machakaire has challenged youths to be disciplined and hold peace and unity as sacrosanct by shunning violence in all its forms.

Addressing the ZANU PF Youth Interface Meeting at Kutama High School in Mashonaland West Province yesterday, Machakaire said youths must be ambassadors of peace.

“As cadres of our revolutionary mass party, who represent the aspirations of the people, we must hold peace and unity as sacrosanct by shunning violence in all its forms,” said Cde Machakaire.

Party campaigns and programmes, he said, must therefore, be conducted in a manner that ensures peaceful, free, fair and credible 2023 harmonised general elections.

Cde Machakaire added that the youths were the vanguard of the Party and they should lead in the mobilisation of five million votes for President Mnangagwa and ZANU PF. He urged youths to forget about the primary elections and focus on ensuring a resounding victory for ZANU PF in this year’s plebiscite.

“The primary elections have come and go. We must not dwell on what transpired during primary elections. Let’s now come together and mobilise votes for our President and the Party. Hatidi kunzwa vanotaura kana kufunga zvebhora musango,” added Machakaire.

Cde Machakaire further said that the Party was aware of challenges facing the youths and promised that Government was doing everything it could to empower the youths. He urged the youths to unite for a common goal in nation-building and to shun drugs.

“Coming here we have come to unite all the youths and everyone in peace. We are appealing to our youths to come together for a common goal. We all have to work together as we can’t despise each other,” he said.

Machakaire lashed out at individuals peddling drugs and other illicit substances, saying they had affected the youths, who end up indulging in crime and other anti-social behaviours.

“We are encouraging the youths to desist from drug and substance abuse. We condemn every drug and I want to urge all the youths to report those dealing in drugs to the police,”

The Youth Interface Meeting was attended by ZANU PF Leadership in Mashonaland West Province that included Provincial Chairperson, Mary Mliswa, Politburo Member, Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi and Central Committee member, Cde Philip Chiyangwa. A number of youthful artists including Ndunge Yut, Boss Pumal and Obert Chari entertained the delegates.
