Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa has castigated that party’s parliamentarians for being incompetent and has since directed the Candidate Independent Selection Process (CISP) to disqualify the majority of them.
A source who spoke to this publication said that Chamisa had positive ratings for only six CCC legislators and had reportedly directed CISP to chop off all dead wood.
“Chamisa has accused some CCC legislators of being incompetent and politically inept. He confided in Amos Chibaya that only six CCC legislators were up to the task. He has since directed CISP to disqualify the deadwood so that they don’t qualify as candidates in the forthcoming elections,” said the source.
The same source added that some of the CCC legislators that Chamisa wanted disqualified include Tendai Biti, Shakespeare Hamauswa, Joanna Mamombe and Charlton Hwende.
According to the source, Chamisa accuses a number of CCC legislators of failing to push for the amendment of the Electoral Act and going to parliament just to warm benches.
The source further revealed that Chamisa had directed CISP to disqualify all aspiring legislators who had served two or more terms in Parliament.
“Chamisa directed CISP to disqualify legislators who had served at least two terms. He is targeting to disqualify legislators such as Murisi Zwizwai, Caston Matewu and Costa Machingauta, among others. Chamisa is saying that these old guards have nothing new to offer to the people,” said the source.
According to the source, Chamisa further directed CISP to thoroughly vet all aspiring candidates and to disqualify those candidates whose loyalty to him was questionable.
Meanwhile, Chamisa is set to replace that party’s old guards with young Turks such as Gift Siziba, Takudzwa Ngadziore and Pashor Sibanda.
