President elect, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa said the two-thirds parliamentary majority secured by Zanu PF in the 30 July harmonized elections was a loud show of support and confidence in him and the ruling party by the people of Zimbabwe.
The President said this while addressing multitudes who had gathered at the National Heroes Acre for the burial of Matebeleland North Minister of State, Cde Thokozile Angela Mathuthu, who died on 13 August after a long battle with cancer, she was 61 years old.
President Mnangagwa said his administration would work tirelessly in the second Republic to improve the lives of all Zimbabweans in every part of the country.
“Principally, my Government has taken a decision to implement the constitutional requirements of devolving and decentralizing the running of our national affairs.
This is one of the strategies to rebuild our economy through modernization and industrialization; the creation of decent jobs as well as ensuring broad based empowerment in line with our vision 2030.” said the President.
President Mnangagwa further revealed that the country’s youths, who deserve a better life and increased opportunities, had a special place in vision 2030.
“They must take this programme of devolved economic development, as specifically for them.” urged the President.
Turning to the just ended 38th SADC Summit, held in Namibia; under the theme: “Promoting Infrastructure Development and Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development.” President Mnangagwa said the Summit’s theme resonated with his Government’s initiative to leapfrog the development of quality infrastructure and the nation’s determination to harness the collective, untapped potential, resident in the youthful population.
The President concluded his remarks by urging unity amongst Zimbabweans.
